How do you know if your wedding photography will meet your expectations?
It's a fairly simple question.
Sadly, a vast majority of people shooting weddings don't have the skills required to capture your event as beautifully as you might hope. So what gives with all of the "great" looking photography on so many wedding sites?
A photographer will; post their best work on their website, rather than what's typical. Even those who are just beginning will have grabbed enough lucky shots to create an impressive group of photos. Beyond word of mouth there really is no way to know how well your photos will turn out. Even the best shooters can have trouble with lighting and venues that are not photo-friendly. Others may not have good post production skills to bring the most out of each photo. So what do great photos on a website really indicate? Very little indeed.
So you might pick a great photo on a website and ask, "How often will I get shots of this caliber?" Or you might ask if you can look at a whole album from a single event. Even then you must be realistic. Some settings allow for spectacular shooting and others are more of a challenge.
Percentages of success are all about skill, anticipating special moments and correct interaction with the subjects. It's a difficult dance that demands a high level of technical proficiency along with solid artistic ability.
As the primary shooter, I possess these qualities, along with the cameras & lenses to capture the best images possible.
